Upcoming C:SI updates – Quick Notes

Just some quick notes for anyone interested in the upcoming C:SI updates…
What’s changing?
I’m not fully up-to-date yet as I haven’t had the time or opportunity to discuss these things with the other developers in any detail, but here’s what I can gather from the updates Archanox has sent me so far :

At the beginning of [...]

What in the world is wrong with Second Life now?

I got an interesting IM this morning :
[07:00] Silver Csak:  Dear Robby, The wave and the taketory dont work right in the Shadow sim,,,,,, starting in block position then to kick, then back to block,, takes about 7 seconds if it works at all,,,, pretty serious problem on this sim,,,, but it works [...]

Followup : SVC-1975 (Avatar Jump Height)

I recently posted that "The Lab" had implemented a fix for SVC-1975 (Havok 4: Avatar jump height is greatly lessened), and that they would likely be deploying the fix in the near future.
They just announced today that you can test that fix on the Beta Grid, which is pretty quick turnaround on a PJira [...]

Could it be? Will "The Lab" fix avatar jump height?

I’ve been fooled before, but I just received notice that work has started on issue SVC-1975: Avatar jump height is greatly lessened.
While I’d prefer that they worked on the kick issue (SVC-1648), it looks like that issue is dead in the water and I’m happy that they are working on any of the several [...]

Linden Lab™ wants comparative metrics…

…because apparently they never tested it themselves, and weren’t aware (or don’t believe) that you cannot jump as high in Havok 4 as you could in Havok 1 :
Alexa Linden™ said…
Can you provide us with Comparative metrics for this? are you noticing this difference without your AO on?

Since it is no longer possible to generate [...]

Havok 4 to be deployed on Monday

Yup, the rumor is true, Havok 4 is to be deployed grid-wide on Monday and Tuesday.
It does not appear that any of the bugs affecting C:SI will be fixed by then, and Linden Lab knows that they are releasing a physics server with many significant changes :
Sidewinder Linden Says: [...]

Linden Lab™ is looking into the kick issue

I just received an email regarding the Jira issue SVC-1648, which pertains to the problem that C:SI users are having with kicks in Havok™ 4 early-adopter sims, notifying me that it has finally been assigned to Kelly Linden.
Apparently Kelly Linden had not seen the object that I passed to Sidewinder Linden as a repro case [...]

Havok™ 4 to be deployed grid-wide soon?

I recently saw an article on Darien Caldwell’s blog that Linden Lab® is preparing to launch Havok™ 4 grid-wide in the near future, as soon as the next week or two.  The post stated that supporting text could be found on the Second Life® Blog, but when I went to look for myself, no [...]

Havok™ 4 Regions updated with 11 fixes

Just wanted to post a quick note on the news that the Havok™ team has deployed another 11 fixes to 559 Early Adopter regions.  Looking at the list of fixes, I don’t see anything that will specifically affect C:SI, though I’m hoping those of you in-world can see if they had any secondary benefits.  It’s [...]

C:SI Weapons Breaking

Apparently today’s The Final Stand 3v3 tournament was marred by a few cases of warrior’s weapons breaking.  Very early this morning Ayame received a report of a similar issue.  In both cases, from what information I’ve been able to gather, the telltale symptom is a script error and a math error.  Thereafter, it seems that [...]
